Hosea Reflects Terminal Words From the Heart of the Torah into Tomorrow
Hosea 8; 12 Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, They are regarded as a strange thing.
–While finishing out the final Torah sedra of Bechukotai (“In My Statutes”) of Vayikra (Leviticus) we come to the vivid texts of incredible blessings and terrifying curses. The Word of God is not lukewarm, nor grey…this becomes evident here when dealing with the avenues of free will in Scripture. It is Life in obedience to His commandments or death in betrayal and transgression. There is fruit in abundance or sorrow and terror. My daughter and I had been studying the book of Hosea in connection with last week’s portion but we were called back to the text when we realized the stunning connections just kept coming. I have attempted to document these connections below. It is amazing, the more I look the more the two texts blend into one. The Leviticus texts are in bold, keep in mind as you read these are the terminal words from the heart of God’s Torah. Leviticus known as the book for priests (I am in awe, aside from 25;55 that this is only chapter 26 of Leviticus which encompasses the entire book of Hosea.) Please visit this link to read the two texts ‘side by side’ before continuing through the blog post. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart to what God wants to show you before you read my thoughts. https://tackk.com/lu3fx9
Hosea 2 ; 14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Bring her into the wilderness And speak kindly to her.
15 “Then I will give her her vineyards from there, And the valley of Achor as a door of hope. And she will sing there as in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.
Leviticus 25; 55 For the sons of Israel are My servants; they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
Hosea 2; 16 “It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord, “That you will call Me Ishi and will no longer call Me Baali.
17 “For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, So that they will be mentioned by their names no more.
[Hosea 11;1 When Israel was a youth I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son. 2 The more they called them, the more they went from them; They kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning incense to idols. 3 Yet it is I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them in My arms; but they did not know that I healed them. 4 I led them with cords of a man, with bonds of love, and I became to them as one who lifts the yoke from their jaws; and I bent down and fed them.]
*******I John 3;1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are.
The Hosea text is just one of many that identifies Israel as the son chosen by HaShem. An unfaithful son with a long suffering Father. So too we can not possibly earn or merit the kind of steadfast love of our Father, but we have it if we abide in Him, trust and allow Him to bind us to him.
Jeremiah 31;1 “At that time,” declares the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.”2 Thus says the Lord, “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness—Israel, when it went to find its rest.” 3 The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. 4 “Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! Again you will take up your tambourines, and go forth to the dances of the merrymakers. 5 “Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; The planters will plant and will enjoy them.
See the parallels in the New Covenant Chapter of Jeremiah, forged with the House of Israel…like His everlasting love so is His promise. For more on everlasting: https://safeguardingtheeternal.wordpress.com/2014/05/05/did-perhaps-god-really-mean-eternal-an-inquiry-part-i/
Exodus 4;22 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Israel is My son, My firstborn. 23 So I said to you, ‘Let My son go that he may serve Me’ *******
Hosea 1; 10 Yet the number of the sons of Israel Will be like the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or numbered; and in the place where it is said to them, “You are not My people,” It will be said to them, “You are the sons of the living God.”
Leviticus 26 ;1 ‘You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God.
Hosea 2;18 “In that day I will also make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds of the sky and the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow, the sword and war from the land, And will make them lie down in safety.
Leviticus 26; 6 I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble. I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.
7 But you will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword; 8 five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.
*******H7673 shabath shaw-bath’
a primitive root; to repose, i.e. desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific).
H2416 chay khah’-ee
from H2421; alive; hence, raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively.
H7451 ra` rah
from H7489; bad or (as noun) evil (natural or moral). (Incl. feminine raaah; as adjective or noun.)
Take a look at the Leviticus text with the Hebrew words from above and consider the meaning behind them. Does God mean literal wild animals? On the surface yes, but the ancient language tells us another story:
Leviticus 26; 6 I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble. I shall also eliminate (Shabbath) harmful (Ra) beasts (Chay) from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.
What is it precisely that the Lord is promising here? It seems as though He is giving the Land and its people rest from evil life. From beings who are wicked and seek destruction. It makes sense when we notice directly after the removal of Ra Chay we read no sword will pass through your land. Sword speaks of violence, battle, war. The Hosea text too speaks of a respite from war.
In our study these seem to descriptions of the future “Day” described in scripture, one of Peace and Life:
Isaiah 11; 6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them. 7 Also the cow and the bear will graze, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den. 9 They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. *******
Hosea 2; 19 “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In lovingkindness and in compassion,
20 And I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord.
Leviticus 26; 9 So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.
[Hosea 9; 11 As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird—No birth, no pregnancy and no conception! 12 Though they bring up their children, Yet I will bereave them until not a man is left. Yes, woe to them indeed when I depart from them!
16 Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up, They will bear no fruit. Even though they bear children, I will slay the precious ones of their womb. 17 My God will cast them away because they have not listened to Him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.]
*******A betrothal, Confirmation of the Covenant, Promise of life and fruit, connecting life and fruit with progeny and offspring. Perhaps one of the most essential things for a believer to remember is that we are not estranged from the Covenant’s of Old, nor their promises. We are not separate from Israel or their God. We are not detached from His commandments to Israel because we are a part of it all if we so choose to be. This is His desire as I see it, that we become a part of this family. Equal sharers in the responsibilities and the blessings. The Isaiah text below explains that the foreigner and eunuch (one who physically can not produce children) who attach themselves to His covenant and protect His Sabbaths should not say “division” or “unworthy”, for they will have names which are owlam, everlasting in His House.
Isaiah 56; 3 Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, “The Lord will surely separate me from His people.” Nor let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.” 4 For thus says the Lord, “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, 5 To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off. 6 “Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, every one who keeps from profaning the Sabbath and holds fast My Covenant; 7 Even those I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer.Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”********
Leviticus 26; 10 You will eat the old supply and clear out the old because of the new.
11 Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you.
Hosea 2; 21 “It will come about in that day that I will respond,” declares the Lord. “I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth,
22 And the earth will respond to the grain, to the new wine and to the oil,and they will respond to Jezreel.
Leviticus 26; 2 You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the Lord. 3 If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, 4 then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
5 Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.
******* The Lord promises the He will Dwell among the people and they are to fear (Yare) which is the sense of Revere, His Sanctuary (His Mishkan, His Tabernacle and later the Temple). If He is to dwell among them, and among us…if we are to revere Him as is fitting how do we know what to do and how to perform this? He showed us through His commandments in His word, He exemplified it through the life of His Son Yeshua. The Torah made flesh who Tabernacled among us. By taking part and actively seeking to do His will we are able to grasp this very simple truth straight from the Mouth of God…He granted us His commandments so that they should be carried out and thus the land will yield its produce and the tree’s will bear their fruit. But why, why keep the Sabbath and Feasts and Prayer Service, etc? It is not salvation so why? And who decided how it should be done, how would I even know if I was doing it ‘right’? God tells us it is for light, and life and length of days (Proverbs 3). He says if you live by them you will (Lev. 18) find life in them. If one is willing to dare to believe that an Unchanging shiftless God is the Same Yesterday today and forever and with all one’s heart just jump in and try…asking Him to reveal to you all truth and learn to Love His ways, to bask in the Shadow of things yet to come…I testify it is worth the walk. Yeshua teaches us to get back to the basics and believe with a very straightforward and pure heart, believe what was written was good and is still good.
John 5; 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
I Corinthians 3; 9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
Matthew 7; 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.*******
Hosea 2; 23 “I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, and I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ and they will say, ‘You are my God!’”
Leviticus 26; 12 I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.
13 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.
******* Isaiah 49; 1 Listen to Me, O islands, and pay attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me. 2 He has made My mouth like a sharp sword, In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me; and He has also made Me a select arrow, He has hidden Me in His quiver.3 He said to Me, “You are My Servant, Israel, in Whom I will show My glory.” 4 But I said, “I have toiled in vain, I have spent My strength for nothing and vanity; Yet surely the justice due to Me is with the Lord, and My reward with My God.”5 And now says the Lord, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant,to bring Jacob back to Him, so that Israel might be gathered to Him (For I am honored in the sight of the Lord, and My God is My strength), 6 He says, “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
-God has made His sovereign choice of Israel as His chosen people. He has made the promise to plant them in the Land of Israel. He has also promised that because He sent himself, manifest in the physical form of Yeshua, flesh and blood who died on behalf of all of fallen creation…because He raised him from the dead and he now stands at the Right hand as our High priest and intercessor…by his mediating work all men can approach the throne of God Most High. Anyone who asks it, anyone who desires to become a part of His Kingdom has this chance. As sure as Israel is, as sure as the Jewish people will remain His own…we are a part of this promise if we so choose it. It is His will that all come to repentance and faith. It is in accord with His will that we make this choice. It is a choice of freedom, eternal life, and unspeakable treasure and wonder and light. If there is anyone out there reading this, who does not know where to begin or who feels as though they have never really committed to being in Covenant with God by Yeshua, anyone who wants to make these last days we are in count and die to himself…find this life and become His disciple…email me your thoughts. I will write you or call wherever I am able to reach. I will not leave you with a brief note and not continue our ministering. I will try to do to the best of my ability all that I can to aide you in your acceptance, return, or confirmation into Life Lived for Yeshua according to my understanding of the Word and God’s will for you. email@example.com
Romans 8; 12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— 13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. *******
Hosea 3; 5 Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days.
*Yeshua son of David is whom we will all be seeking in the Last Days. Hosea is reflecting the words of the Torah into our ears, before our very eyes this day and into tomorrow if we would but teach it to our children. The word for return in the texts and many others in the Tanakh (Torah,Nevi’im- Prophets,Ketubim- writings) is this:
Shuwb (shoob)- to turn back (hence, away) transitively or intransitively, literally or figuratively (the idea of return to the starting point).
It is the word often used interchangeably to mean repent.
I believe this text among many is proof that in the Last Days Israel as a whole, national Israel and Spiritual Israel…all of us, will repent and return to the Lord and to Messiah…with trembling and to His goodness.
Hosea 4; 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Leviticus 26; 14 ‘But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,
15 if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,
*******Now is the time to listen. The Lord is calling and restoring and returning His people unto Him. Those whom He has graced with ears to hear and a heart to understand are not stumbling. We are becoming stronger by His will and Spirit in Yeshua. The adversary and father of lies has tried since the garden to take the Word of God and twist it, to cause one to question what God actually said. There is a spirit in the world of believers taking the actual ancient languages and watering down the meaning behind essential and foundational words. I believe the one contrary to all things of God has been attempting to strip believers of the Armor with which He has equipped us. Weaponry for what purpose? For the battle beloved, in which we are engaged currently and for its culmination which we are right on the heels of. Do not strip yourself of the Torah because of man made theology and doctrine, it is the ancient path. It is still good, still applicable for the believer in Christ. Do not strip yourself of God’s calendar, it is still relevant and God has made this evident throughout history what has happened to the Jewish people and the world, it is evident over time by the signs in the heavens He illuminates during His feasts days. Watch, listen, learn, pray, pray some more and have hope. We have been given everything that we need to defeat this darkness and enter the knowledge and understanding we have been divinely given.
Jeremiah 6;16 Thus says the Lord, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ 17 “And I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’ 18 “Therefore hear, O nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them. 19 “Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, The fruit of their plans, Because they have not listened to My words, And as for My law, they have rejected it also.
Matthew 5; 17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
FULFILL: pleroo (play-ro’-o)- to make replete, i.e. (literally) to cram (a net), level up (a hollow), or (figuratively) to furnish (or imbue, diffuse, influence), satisfy, execute (an office), finish (a period or task),
Hosea 4;7 The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.
Leviticus 26; 16 I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.
*******We are charged to give the word of God, the good seed, at every possible opportunity, even when it is not convenient. I don’t know what challenges you have faced in your efforts to till soil in your own life but it can be all the more difficult a feat to attempt in the lives of others. Whether you are ministering, planting, in soil that is hard…dry…not easily tilled or ground which has become corrupted or even overridden with thorns, I encourage you not to give up. At the same time I encourage you not to sow the seed uselessly. If you have planted and tended to the people God has placed in your life sometimes there comes the option to step back and let God do the watering and cause the growth. If you feel as if you are toiling in vain and if you are becoming beaten down and tired out, even spiritually drained yourself because the message is not being received…perhaps it might be a prompting from above that it is time to sow in some different soil. Do not give up, only use the resources God has gifted you in a place where there is good ground. Hold onto Yeshua tightly as you reach to grasp those who have become close to the fire from its clutches, but do not come so close that become singed or, God forbid, fall.
Jeremiah 4; 1 “If you will return, O Israel,” declares the Lord, “Then you should return to Me. And if you will put away your detested things from My presence, and will not waver, 2 And you will swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’ In truth, in justice and in righteousness; Then the nations will bless themselves in Him,and in Him they will glory.” 3 For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns. 4 “Circumcise yourselves to the Lord and remove the foreskins of your heart,Men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or else My wrath will go forth like fire and burn with none to quench it,because of the evil of your deeds.”
Luke 8; 5 “The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. 8 Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great.” As He said these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 9 His disciples began questioning Him as to what this parable meant. 10 And He said, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.11 “Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. 12 Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.*******
Hosea 4; 8 They feed on the sin of My people and direct their desire toward their iniquity.
Leviticus 26; 16 I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.
Hosea 4; 9 And it will be, like people, like priest; so I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.
Leviticus 26; 17 I will set My face against you so that you will be struck down before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.
18 If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
*******There needs to be an understanding of the difference between someone who sins and someone who practices sin. What is sin? Sin is defined is scripture as Lawlessness. We have all sinned and fallen short, there is not one of us who is righteous. We will fail and fail again the difference will be first, the identification of sin through the natural part of Godliness that is existent in each one created in His image. Further identification comes from the consistent search of the Scriptures to know what God considers right and what He has told us is wrong. Prayer and the administration of the Spirit will result in the feeling of remorse which should lead to confession of our sins and repentance. Repentance is a return to God and to commit to not repeating, revisiting and practicing the same sins over and over again. IF we are abiding, staying “In Christ” there is no way that we can continue to sin without repenting and changing, at least working to change. Thus, we are not sinners. We sin, we need to ask Him for forgiveness and to realize Yeshua died for our sins to be covered before the sight of the Father, but we are not sinners in His sight. There is a very real consequence for sin, continual unrepentant sin. This consequence is death. Those who choose death will find it. Do not ever believe the lie that is you are a sinner and can not be saved. Do not ever believe the lie that is a believer can not sin. Do not ever believe the lie that is if you are a believer who has sinned you are no longer saved. Is salvation certain? In Yeshua, yes. Is it a one time event? I do not believe so. I believe the Lord will work on us for a lifetime and that our whole lives we will have to deal with, face, identify and repent from our sin. In contrast He will also be grooming us to become holy for this duration. Holiness too is a lifetime work we can not do alone. We need the word, we need the spirit whom Yeshua left us with and we need to be a part of the pursuit of perfection in Him, actively.
I John 3;2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious:anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
James 4; 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. 11 Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Proverbs 28; 13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
Hosea 4; 10 They will eat, but not have enough; they will play the harlot, but not increase, because they have stopped giving heed to the Lord.
11 Harlotry, wine and new wine take away the understanding.
12 My people consult their wooden idol, and their diviner’s wand informs them; for a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they have played the harlot, departing from their God.
Leviticus 26; 19 I will also break down your pride of power; I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 Your strength will be spent uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.
Hosea explains that idolatry is connected to adultery, in this case, harlotry against the groom, God. He says in their consumption they will remain unfilled and although they fornicate they do not produce, children. Leviticus tells a similar prophecy again noting strength and any effort or energy exerted will be a useless investment. If God is not with us, if we forsake Him failing to put Him forefront as an ever present guiding and sustaining force in ALL our ways and undertakings, we might work devotedly…but we will not find success. So to with any ministry, relationship, job, challenge, even when building a household.
Psalms 127;1 Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late,to eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.
3 Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
Isaiah 65;17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered or come to mind. 18 “But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing and her people for gladness. 19 “I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; and there will no longer be heard in her the voice of weeping and the sound of crying. 20 “No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his days; for the youth will die at the age of one hundred and the one who does not reach the age of one hundred will be thought accursed. 21 “They will build houses and inhabit them; They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 “They will not build and another inhabit, they will not plant and another eat; for as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands. 23 “They will not labor in vain, or bear children for calamity;for they are the offspring of those blessed by the Lord, and their descendants with them.
Hosea 5;1 Hear this, O priests! Give heed, O house of Israel! Listen, O house of the king! For the judgment applies to you, for you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net spread out on Tabor.
2 The revolters have gone deep in depravity, but I will chastise all of them.
Leviticus 26; 27 ‘Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me, 28 then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins.
Hosea 5;3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me; For now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot, Israel has defiled itself.
4 Their deeds will not allow them to return to their God.For a spirit of harlotry is within them, and they do not know the Lord.
Proverbs 1; 20 Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square; 21 At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she utters her sayings: 22 “How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing and fools hate knowledge? 23 “Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. 24 “Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention; 25 And you neglected all my counsel and did not want my reproof; 26 I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, 27 When your dread comes like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. 28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me, 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. 30 “They would not accept my counsel, they spurned all my reproof. 31 “So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices. 32 “For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. 33 “But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil.”
–Throughout this entry I have attempted to encourage the reader to apply these words carefully. To understand that the Lord gives very clear black and white choices set out in His word. He speaks of things that were, things that are and things that are still to come. I do not hazard to water down these blesses and terrible curses. It became clear to me this day that the Lord is abundant and mercy and His mercy will suppress all His other attributes…however, He is a Powerful, Mighty and Jealous God. He is Just and He is Righteous and as far and wide as the horizon is His graciousness. Therefore one has to ask the question, what is justice? What is right in the case of the unrepentant being who even after witnessing all the warnings, all the wonder and wrath and power and magnificence of God…the being who continues to shake his fist at the Throne and remain stubborn and blasphemous, what is the just consequence for such a person? Be sure, the blessings are profound and the curses are very real. Be sure, where you stand with God and among your brethren. Do not dance any longer between two opinions, do not be that which Messiah spews from His mouth in the day of decision. How? Repent. How? Ask forgiveness from your face and realize He desires to make a change in You. It is that easy, listen to His call. He desires for you blessing rather than curse. Additionally, do not be afraid to return and to repent because of the weight of your sin. It is not too big, it is not to heavy, it is not to much for God to deal with. He will handle it with you, He will obliterate it from your life completely…all memory or re-visitation of your sin is a ploy of the father of lies to keep you from this understanding. Repent and be healed. It is not too hard for Him.
Revelation 9;18 A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which proceeded out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm. 20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.
Revelation 16; 7 And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.” 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. 9 Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory. 10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, 11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.
Leviticus 26; 30 I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and heap your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul shall abhor you.
31 I will lay waste your cities as well and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.
Hosea 5; 5 Moreover, the pride of Israel testifies against him, and Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; Judah also has stumbled with them.
6 They will go with their flocks and herds to seek the Lord, but they will not find Him; he has withdrawn from them.
Leviticus 26; 32 I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled over it.
33 You, however, I will scatter among the nations and will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become waste.
*******The land will no longer flourish and support the life which was once profuse. Without the grass in the field the flocks and herds have no sustenance and can not live. Even if the flocks were abundant if Israel were to go there and seek out animals to offer unto God, seeking Him…He will not be found for His presence has withdrawn, He has (Chalats) stripped Himself from them. Our sustenance is the word of God, on it we should feed and feast. While we have the freedoms to worship, study, assemble and speak the Word observing our faith it is incumbent upon us to do so. In liberty we should realize how many of our brethren have been tortured, murdered, shot, beheaded, crucified, raped to death, kidnapped and force-ably converted. The blood of the martyrs cries out to us to take hold of the gift of freedom of Religion and take complete advantage of the rights we still have. I truly believe these rights are slowly being taken from us and we may not always be able to freely worship the One God of Jacob. Think of the generation of our children and grandchildren. The very best way to preserve the Word of the Lord is to memorize it, learn it, sing it and keep it in your heart…above all: Give it to your children and teach them to repeat it. There will be a time of famine and drought for the word of God, when Yeshua comes he asks ‘will I find faith at all’. Let us take this very seriously and work hard in preparing for that truly devastating disaster now so that when the day comes we will be well nourished, well fed, and able to share the living water freely to the thirsty who may not have done the same.
Amos 8;11 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “When I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.
Luke 18;6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; 7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
Hosea 5; 7 They have dealt treacherously against the Lord, For they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their land.
Leviticus 26; 29 Further, you will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters you will eat.
Hosea 5; 11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to follow man’s command.
12 Therefore I am like a moth to Ephraim and like rottenness to the house of Judah.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to King Jareb. But he is unable to heal you, or to cure you of your wound.
Leviticus 26; 25 I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you, so that you shall be delivered into enemy hands.
*******So many times throughout history the Jewish people have been brought into strict judgment and terrible persecution and in the times when they depended on the strength of men, when they relied on the justice of a king, when they sought refuge from a nation…they were despised, rejected and became much worse off than at the first. Israel is on the heels of making the same mistakes again. The Land which is God’s has already been divided and sold for a peace that only Messiah can bring. The world is calling for them to recant, submit and bow down again. If Israel depends on America or any other nation to be their ally it seems they will be sorely disappointed. If Israel releases any more of the Holy Land into the hands of destruction it will be a day of great darkness. Perhaps it is a part of the plan for things that must come about. When one looks at the times when Israel and the Jewish people have repented and turned back to God, when they have trusted Him alone to wage war for them we have witnessed His Mighty strength on their behalf. It is a testimony to the faithfulness of God to a promise and Covenant which doesn’t expire, even when an unfaithful second party has abrogated it…that Israel exists to this day.A tiny speck of light in a sea of violence, there is no reason the vast numbers of surrounding enemies have not wiped them off the map which is their fervent desire…other than the steadfast truth that God is with them. God loves them. God will protect them. Our prayers are important and I believe it is well pleasing in His sight to pray for His continued hand in their lives, and in their battles.
I Samuel 17;45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.”
Jeremiah 1; 17 Now, gird up your loins and arise, and speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will dismay you before them. 18 Now behold, I have made you today as a fortified city and as a pillar of iron and as walls of bronze against the whole land, to the kings of Judah, to its princes, to its priests and to the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord.
Psalm 122;1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” 2 Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem, 3 Jerusalem, that is built as a city that is compact together; 4 To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the Lord— An ordinance for Israel— To give thanks to the name of the Lord. 5 For there thrones were set for judgment,The thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. 7 “May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces.” 8 For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within you.” 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.
Hosea 5; 14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear to pieces and go away,I will carry away, and there will be none to deliver.
15 I will go away and return to My place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.
Leviticus 26; 21 ‘If then, you act with hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.
22 I will let loose among you the beasts of the field, which will bereave you of your children and destroy your cattle and reduce your number so that your roads lie deserted.
I pray continually for all those who do not know the Lord to come to know Him soon. I pray soon every eye will see He is real, He is true, He is unchanging and there is nothing more that we can rely on. No man, no love, no support…nothing beside Him. I pray that every heart invest their being into Him and know that He will do mighty and wondrous things with their trust. Nothing will be the same, everything is changing, everything will be made new…it is time, I groan for all those who have not yet known the peace and love that surpasses anything this world has to offer. I pray that we all know that even when things do not go perfect and although we endure even unspeakable trials…everything is for the purpose that we might become strengthened. He will make us as strong as we need to be for what more is ahead of us all. I pray healing over every single heart that has been torn by loss, deceit, damage, betrayal, sorrow, disillusionment, confusion, lies, hate, violence….I pray that the great Healer do a mighty work in each one of us and that we all become willing servants ready to heal one another knowing we are all in this together. Strengthen your fellow.
Hosea 6;1 “Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.
2 “He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him.
3 “So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth.”
Leviticus 26; 40 ‘If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me—
Hosea 6; 4 What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? For your loyalty is like a morning cloud and like the dew which goes away early.
5 Therefore I have hewn them in pieces by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and the judgments on you are like the light that goes forth.
6 For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
Leviticus 26; 38 But you will perish among the nations, and your enemies’ land will consume you.
39 So those of you who may be left will rot away because of their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the iniquities of their forefathers they will rot away with them.
There is access to the word of God. Easily, at our fingertips. In some places it is not so easy therefore we have no excuse not the “know”. We have no excuse not to profess and “give” the word. We are responsible first to inquire of our own hearts, ensuring we are testing our lives against the word of God. It is clear, it is precise and it will cut away all the things that God does not find favor in. The word is powerful and when we realize the wonder in what we hold in our hands when we grasp our bible…we change. God changes us. In these days as morality crumbles and even the body of believers fights within itself against itself, in these days when the lines of right and wrong have been muddled…there is one decisive, unequivocal standard by which we can identify sin, become convicted, come to God and live for Him. This blueprint for life is the Word. Genesis to Revelation. Wield it, bear it, search it, uphold it, apply it.
I Peter 1; 10 As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look.
Romans 15; 4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Psalms 119;9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. 10 With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. 11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You. 12 Blessed are You, O Lord; Teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of Your mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. 16 I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. 17 Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word. 18 Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.
Hebrews 4; 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Hosea 6; 7 But like Adam they have transgressed the covenant; there they have dealt treacherously against Me.
8 Gilead is a city of wrongdoers, tracked with bloody footprints.
9 And as raiders wait for a man, So a band of priests murder on the way to Shechem; Surely they have committed crime.
10 In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing; Ephraim’s harlotry is there, Israel has defiled itself.
11 Also, O Judah, there is a harvest appointed for you, when I restore the fortunes of My people.
Leviticus 26; 41 I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies—or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so that they then make amends for their iniquity,
42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.
43 For the land will be abandoned by them, and will make up for its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul abhorred My statutes.
******This is fascinating to me. Which is the first covenant? In the Garden with Adam? How did he transgress the covenant? Note in Hosea covenant is singular. How are Israel like Adam in their transgression of the covenant? Adam’s sin was disobedience. He had God’s commandments just as Israel did just as we do and he ate of the one tree God had placed in the garden as His alone, not to be taken from.
The band of priests who murdered on the way to Shechem? Was it not Levi (the tribe from which the priests belong) and Simeon who misused the sign of the Abrahamic Covenant- Circumcision, as a ploy to demolish the men in the city after their prince had raped their sister Dinah. (Genesis 34) And yet ‘now’ Israel defiles itself with harlotry (Remember the words of the brothers to justify their violence: “Should he treat our sister like a harlot?” )
The Leviticus text which I see corresponds here also mentions circumcision, an un-circumcision of the heart. Nevertheless God makes it very clear, although one generation has abhorred His commandments, although one generation has been disobedient and iniquitous He remembers and uphold His covenants. Covenants with God do not expire because of man’s disobedience, His promise is not dependent upon us. He will uphold His word from generation to generation and because at one point in time the progeny of the one in covenant may abrogate it…doesn’t diminish the reality that it continues to the future generation. Therefore let us remember and take heart, even if our forefathers have failed…we can continue to step up and keep the charge of our King, the One in Whom we are in Covenant with. Even more encouraging in a deteriorating world, if we fail…it is enormously important to instill in our children the sense of responsibility to keep God’s word, to learn it and to give it…they will inherit our troubles, we need to fully arm them and strengthen them to know that they can continue the legacy of obedience, devotion and commitment to God. Covenants work with each other one does not do away with another. Paul explains this when identifying that the ‘New Covenant’ in the blood of Yeshua directly relates to the covenant with Abraham. Furthermore the covenant ‘document’ known commonly as what was given at Mount Sinai for the so called Mosaic Covenant is the Law. Paul says the Torah is of life, obedience to the Torah expresses our faith. By this faith we are blessed with Adam, Noach, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David and the House of Israel through the same promise which runs through each covenant: The seed of the woman who will crush the curse of sin and death…
Yeshua the Messiah.
Galatians 3; 8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. 10 For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.” 11 Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “The righteous man shall live by faith.” 12 However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “He who practices them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Jeremiah 31; 31 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. 33 “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Hosea 7;4 They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by the baker who ceases to stir up the fire from the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.
5 On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers,
6 For their hearts are like an oven as they approach their plotting; their anger smolders all night, In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.
7 All of them are hot like an oven, and they consume their rulers; all their kings have fallen. None of them calls on Me.
Leviticus 26; 26 When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.
In my walk there has been the very real concept of life and death, right and wrong, eternal life and the lake of fire. These are concepts that I have been taught but never really taken the time to dissect.
The Hosea text speaks of a baker intent on stirring the flames…intent on our doom. It is clear he is the father of lies and contrary to everything of God and there is one thing he is especially opposed to: our realization that without a life lived for Yeshua, we are doomed. He wants the world to believe it is enough to think of Yeshua as a good man or a great prophet. Islam will have you believe they too believe in Jesus. They fail to mention that in their concept of end times Jesus will be bowing to their messiah. Do not be deceived. The demon’s believe in Jesus. The destroyer also ‘knows’ the bible. Unless we really accept with our hearts, not just an outward expression of words in a hand holding session with a pastor, that He is…that He was….that He shall remain: Yeshua is the Son of God He came in the flesh and died that that we don’t have to, paying the debt for our sins. That God rose him from the dead and that he ascended, is at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us until the time of our reunion with Him…and He is coming with a sword and with fire. To purify and perfect all things, separate light from darkness and ruling with righteousness forever. Without these statements being a part of our “faith” from the inside out, where are we really, and what to we stand upon? Where are we heading and what will we have to say for ourselves when we ‘get there’? There is an enemy and he is against you always without a doubt, but the One who holds out his hand to you is much greater and He will prevail! There is a battle, we need to know who we are up against and realize how much we need Yeshua.
Ezekiel 28;12 “You had the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 “You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: the ruby, the topaz and the diamond; the beryl, the onyx and the jasper; the lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; and the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, was in you. On the day that you were created they were prepared. 14 “You were the anointed cherub who covers, and I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until unrighteousness was found in you. 16 “By the abundance of your trade you were internally filled with violence, and you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, that they may see you. 18 “By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, and I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the eyes of all who see you. 19 “All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; You have become terrified and you will cease to be forever.”’”
John 8; 43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Revelation 12;9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,10 “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. 12 For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”
Genesis 4; 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
I John 5; 18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. 19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Hosea 8; 1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle the enemy comes against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed My covenant and rebelled against My law.
2 They cry out to Me,“My God, we of Israel know You!”
3 Israel has rejected the good; the enemy will pursue him.
Leviticus 26; 36 As for those of you who may be left, I will also bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.
37 They will therefore stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength to stand up before your enemies.
Hosea 8; 4 They have set up kings, but not by Me; they have appointed princes, but I did not know it.With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves, that they might be cut off.
5 He has rejected your calf, O Samaria, saying,“My anger burns against them!”How long will they be incapable of innocence?
6 For from Israel is even this!A craftsman made it, so it is not God; surely the calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.
Hosea 8; 7 For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; It yields no grain. Should it yield, strangers would swallow it up.
Leviticus 26;34 ‘Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies’ land; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.
35 All the days of its desolation it will observe the rest which it did not observe on your sabbaths, while you were living on it.
****** Listen closely to this next verse. What is the law? What are the commandments? How many are there? What are we to apply to our lives? Yeshua refered to Psalms as the Law or Torah (John 10;34 quoting Psalms 82;6 ), Paul referred to the Prophets as the Law or Torah (I Corinthians 14;21 quoting Isaiah 28;11). What is Torah? Is it a chain around our neck? or is it a Gift? Is it strange or is it instruction? If we believe Yeshua only holds us to one command or two, maybe nine or is it ten? God says He has given us ten thousand precepts in His Torah…there is so much to God’s word and every jot and tittle is relevant and important. I think the image below is precisely how the Father would want us to regard His precious gift to us.
Hosea 8; 12 Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, They are regarded as a strange thing.
Hosea 11; 8 How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned over within Me, All My compassions are kindled.
9 I will not execute My fierce anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.
Leviticus 26; 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so abhor them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.
45 But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord.’”
******** Some people might look at the Tanakh and say, “There is so much war and death and wrath.” A closer look reveals that despite the terrible betrayals the people continue to heap up in the very “face” of the Lord, He is merciful and forgiving and He is faithful to give grace and to save a remnant. Even Abraham who the Apostolic writers use as a measure for faithfulness and trust in God became troubled enough to falsify (Genesis 12;13) in Egypt and Gerar (Genesis 20;2) and took matters into his own hands (Genesis 16;3) at the behest of Sarah (Genesis 15). At that time God had Abraham go through all the motions of cutting apart the animals and preparing to walk through the pieces making covenant, as a way of declaring…”If I break my word, may I be as these animals”. God put Abraham to sleep and it was not Abraham who walks through the pieces it is the ‘smoking oven and flaming torch’ who passed through the pieces. The same flame and cloud that would lead Israel to redemption and deliverance, the same Guardian who will do the same for His people today and tomorrow…God wanted to make it very clear:
Covenant with God is in no way dependent upon you
Covenant with God does not depend on your righteousness
Covenant with God is based entirely upon Gods faithfulness
not at all upon mans faithfulness.
He will not forget the Garden when the promise of Yeshua’s incarnation, death and resurrection became necessary, He will not forget Noach and His promise to always preserve a remnant, He will not forget Abraham, Isaac and Israel nor the Land nor their children forever, He will not forget Sinai nor the Wedding Document He gifted there, He will not forget David and He has in Yeshua established that King who can sit on the Throne eternally, He will not forget the Blood which sealed the New Covenant, the Torah written upon the heart by the Spirit for His glory. The covenants are one, they are all interlinked and woven together to work as a whole. We have experienced some of their realization…actualization, but the FULLNESS is yet to come! He is faithful when man is unfaithful, He will not break His word.*********
Hosea 14; 9 Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous will walk in them, but transgressors will stumble in them.
Leviticus 26; 46 These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the Lord established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai.
******* Bear with me for the remainder of this journey. Read with heart the following texts Moses delivered at the end of his days here on earth. Remember that these words are eternal in nature just as the source from whence they came. Remember that these are standards the Apostolic writers lived by and more importantly they are the ways in which our savior lived while in his human form here with us on earth. Remember this is the same message given to and delivered by all the Prophets whom the Lord sent to His people, it is a call to return to the Lord and to keep His commandments. It is a call to choose life and blessing and it’s message is strikingly relevant for us today and for our children into tomorrow.
Deuteronomy 11; 26 “See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known.
Deuteronomy 30;1 “So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind in all nations where the Lord your God has banished you, 2 and you return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons, 3 then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you. 4 If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back. 5 The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. 6 “Moreover the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. 7 The Lord your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you shall again obey the Lord, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. 9 Then the Lord your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the Lord will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; 10 if you obey the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul. 11 “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.
Deuteronomy 32; 45 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”
******* For the years I have been trying to put together a blog that would be well pleasing in the sight of my King, to bring encouragement and strength to the reader and hope to those who might just stumble upon it, for the years I have been completely and utterly enjoying every single minute of opening up scripture and pouring over it with all my heart, over the years of growth and the Spirit leading me to amazing points and connections and intersections in the searching, documenting and then interaction with LIFE! this might be the most important and valuable entry yet. The sincere expressions of the thoughts of my own heart are lengthy, I pray most of all that this collection of convicting and magnificent Scripture will be a blessing and the the Spirit in Yeshua lead someone to finding Him and entrusting Him, the most capable of hands, with your precious soul.
In closing, this precious prayer from my siddur (ancient Jewish prayer book):
Always let a person be God fearing privately and publicly, acknowledge the truth, speak the truth within his heart and arise early and proclaim: Master of all worlds! Not in the merit of our righteousness do we cast our supplications before You, but in the merit of Your abundant mercy. What are we? What is our life? What is our kindness? What is our righteousness? What is our salvation? What is our strength? What is our might? What can we say before You, Lord, our God, and the God of our forefathers- are not all the mighty like nothing before You, the famous as if they had never existed, the wise as if devoid of wisdom and the perceptive as if devoid of intelligence? For most of their deeds are desolate and the days of their lives are empty before You. The pre-eminence of man over beast is non existent for all is vain. But we are Your people, members of Your covenant, children of Abraham, your beloved, father of nations, to whom You took an oath at Mount Moriah; the offspring of Isaac, son of Promise, his only son who was bound atop the altar; the community of Jacob, Your firstborn son, whom- because of the love with which You adored him and the joy with which You delighted in him- You named him Israel and Jeshurun. Therefore we thank You, praise You, bless, sanctify, and offer praise and thanks to Your Name. We are fortunate- how good is our portion, how pleasant is our lot, and how beautiful our heritage! We are fortunate for we come early and stay late, evening and morning and proclaim each day: Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God! The Lord is the One and Only!
Blessed be the Name of His glorious Kingdom for all eternity!
