Focus on the Prophetic Song of David – II Samuel 22
Exodus 10; 21 HASHEM said to Moses, “Stretch forth your hand toward the heavens, and there shall be darkness upon the land of Egypt, and the darkness will be tangible.” 22 Moses stretched forth his hand toward the heavens and there was a thick darkness throughout the land for a three day period. 23 No man could see his brother nor could anyone rise from his place for a three day period; but for the children of Israel there was light in their dwellings.
II Samuel 22;10 He bent down the heavens and descended, with thick darkness beneath His feet.
Joel 2;1 Blow the shofar in Zion and sound the trumpet on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of HASHEM has come; it is near- 2 a day of darkness and thick darkness, a day of cloud and thick cloud, spreading over the mountains like the dawn- a numerous and mighty people; its like has not been from eternity, and after it there will never again be, until the years of generation after generation.
Daniel 7;13 I was watching in night visions and behold! with the clouds of heaven, one like a man came; he came up to the One of Ancient Days, and they brought him before Him. 14 He was given dominion, honor and kingship, so that all peoples, nations and languages would serve him; his dominion would be an everlasting dominion that would never pass, and his kingship would never be destroyed.
Isaiah 60;1 Arise! Shine! for your light has arrived, and the glory of HASHEM shines upon you. 2 For, behold, darkness may cover the earth and thick cloud [may cover] kingdoms, but upon you HASHEM will shine, and His glory will be seen upon you. 3 Nations will walk by your light and kings by the brilliance of our shine.
–It is the darkness of sin, the opposite of the Light of the World, the Light of the Word…which the King stamps under His feet as He returns. It is the deathly darkness of Egypt from the time of the first ingathering of His people set for redemption from the slavery of the destroyer in a foreign land. It was for a three day period the world was void of its light, when Yeshua Ha’Mashiac (Jesus the Messiah) slept in the dark tomb, he trampled the darkness as the Father blew life and resurrection into His Son. The same as it was it shall be again, when our Master returns and calls us from the four corners of the earth to eternal freedom and a parcel and heritage as part of His Kingdom, from sleep to life eternal.
Genesis 1;1 In the beginning of God’s creating the heavens and the earth- 2 when the earth was astonishingly empty, with darkness upon the surface of the deep, and the Divine Presence hovered upon the surface of the waters-3 God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and God separated between the light and the darkness. 5 God called to the light: “Day,” and to the darkness He called: “Night.” And there was evening and there was morning, one day. 6 God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate between water and water.” 7 So God made the firmament, and separated between the waters which were beneath the firmament and the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so. 8 God called to the firmament: “Heaven.” And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. 9 God said, “Let the waters beneath the heaven be gathered into one area, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called tot he dry land: “Earth,” and to the gathering of waters He called: “Seas.” And God saw that it was good.
—סכות Sukkah (sook-kaw)- a hut or lair; booth, cottage, covert, pavilion, tabernacle, tent.
John 1; 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not suppressed it.
II Samuel 22; 11 He mounted the cherub and flew, He appeared on the wings of the wind. 12 He made darkness into shelters (sukkahs) all around Him- the darkness of water, the clouds of heaven.
Psalm 104;1 Bless HASHEM, O my soul. HASHEM, my God, You are very great; You have donned glory and majesty; 2 covering with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a curtain. 3 He Who roofs His upper chambers with water; He who makes clouds His chariot; He Who walks on winged wind; 4 He who established the earth upon its foundations, that it not falter forever and ever. 6 The watery deep, as with a garment You covered it; upon the mountains, water would stand. 7 From Your rebuke they flee; from the sound of Your thunder they rush away.
Daniel 10;5 I raise my eyes and saw, behold! one man clothed in linen, his loins girded with fine gold. 6 His body was like tarshish, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, and his arms and legs like the color of burnished copper; the sound of his words [loud] as the sound of a multitude.
Revelation 14;1 The I looked, and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Tziyon; and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of rushing waters and like the sound of pealing thunder; the sound I heard was also like that of harpist playing their harps. 3 They were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living beings and the elders, and on one cloud learn the song except the 144,000 who have been ransomed for the world.
Exodus 13;20 They journeyed from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, at the edge of the Wilderness. 21 HASHEM went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them on the way, and by night a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day and night. 22 He did not remove the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
–Our maker, our creator.. the Aleph and Tav, Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End..through whom all things came into being, Yeshua separated the heavenly waters from the spiraling, congealing, torrential waters below…from the ancient times, waters and seas likened unto death. He appears on the wings of the wind with the sound of thunder and a vast army beside and behind him. Our King will provide the shade, the shelter, the sukkah of refuge for His elect in the day of darkness. He will transform the darkness into a place to hide for His children and He will not remove this cover just as He did as he led them on the road from the evil decree of death…that their sons be swallowed by the waters of the Nile, to the foot of The Mountain and betrothal in the desert.
Deuteronomy 4;9 Only beware for yourself and greatly beware for your soul, lest you forget the things that your eyes have beheld and lest you remove them from your heart all the days of your life, and make them known to your children and your children’s children- 10 the day that you stood before HASHEM, your God, at Horeb, when HASHEM said to me, “Gather the people to Me and I shall let them hear my words, so that they shall learn to fear Me all the days that they live on the earth, and they shall teach them to their children.” 11 So you approached and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire up to the heart of heaven, darkness, cloud and thick cloud. 12 HASHEM spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you were hearing the sound of His words, but you were not seeing a likeness, only a sound.
Exodus 19;16 On the third day when it was morning, there was thunder and lightning and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and the sound of the shofar was very powerful, and the entire people that was in the camp shuddered. 17 Moses brought the people forth from the camp toward God, and they stood at the bottom of the mountain. 18 All of Mount Sinai was smoking because HASHEM had descended upon it in the fire; its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the entire mountain shuddered exceedingly. 19 The sound of the shofar grew continually much stronger; Moses would speak and God would respond to him with a voice.
II Samuel 22; 13 From out of the brilliance that is before Him burned fiery coals. 14 HASHEM thundered from the heavens, the Most High gave forth His voice.
Matthew 17;2 As they watched, he began to change form- his face shone like the sun, and his clothing became white as light.
Revelation 1;12 I turned around to see who was speaking to me; and when I had turned, I saw seven gold menorahs; 13 and among the menorahs was someone like a Son of Man, wearing a robe down to his feet and a gold band around his chest. 14 His head and hair were as white as snow-white wool, his eyes like a fiery flame, 15 his feet were like burnished brass refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth went a sharp double-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. 17 When I saw him, I fell down at his feet like a dead man. He placed his right hand upon me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last, 18 the Living One. I was dead, but look!- I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys to Death and Sh’ol.
–To the Living One whose existence bears witness to the promise that all who rest in the dirt, from whence we were formed by him, will like him be revived and resuscitated by his breath to life eternal. To the one who traversed the depths of the pit, and having tread in the furnace ascended unscathed, un-scortched…even so, burnished and refined in its heat to obtain the keys from the ruler of the nations whose time is short. He comes with thunder, he comes with the light brighter than the luminaries which he fashioned. He comes with a sword and eyes of fire, he will cut to the core of own being…he will burn through to the depths of our innermost parts, testing the reigns, examining our hearts. As He met His Chosen people at Mount Sinai with thunder and fire and a voice too magnificent to bear…so will he return. When I fall to his feet I pray the next thing I will feel is His right hand upon me. Come quickly my King!
Psalm 33;4 For the word of HASHEM is upright, and all His deeds [are done] in faithfulness. 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the kindness of HASHEM fills the earth.. 6 By the word of HASHEM the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. 7 He assembles the waters of the sea like a mound, He places deep waters in vaults. 8 Fear HASHEM, all the earth; be in dread of Him all inhabitants of the world. 9 For He spoke and it came to be, He commanded and it stood firm.
II Samuel 22; 15 He sent arrows forth and scattered them; lightning and He terrified them. 16 The depths of the sea became visible, the foundations of the earth were laid bare, by the rebuke of HASHEM, by the blowing and the breath of His nostrils. 17 He sent from on high and took me, he drew me from deep waters.
Exodus 15;2 The might and vengeance of God was salvation for me. This is my God and I will build Him a Sanctuary; the God of my father and I will exalt Him. 3 HASHEM is master of war- His Name is HASHEM. 4 Pharaoh’s chariots and army He threw into the sea, and the pick of his officers were mired in the Sea of Reeds. 5 Deep waters covered them; they descended in the depths like stone. 6 Your right hand, HASHEM, is glorified with strength; Your right hand, HASHEM, smashes the enemy. 7 In Your abundant grandeur You shatter Your opponents; You send forth Your wrath and it consumes like straw. 8 At a blast from Your nostrils the waters were heaped up; straight as a wall stood the running water, the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea. 9 The enemy declared, “I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide plunder; I will satisfy my lust with them. I will unsheathe my sword, my hand will impoverish them.” 10 You blew with Your wind- the sea enshrouded them; the mighty sank like lead in water. 11 Who is like you among the heavenly powers, HASHEM! Who is like You, mighty in holiness, too awesome for praise, Doer of wonders!
Acts 2,29 “Brothers, I know I can say to you frankly that the patriarch David died and was buried- his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne, 31 he was speaking in advance about the resurrection of the Messiah, that is was he who was not abandoned in Sh’ol and whose flesh did not see decay. 32 God raised up Yeshua! And we are all witnesses of it! 33 Moreover, he has been exalted to the right hand of God; has received from the Father what he promised, namely, the Ruach HaKodesh (holy spirit); and has poured out his gift, which you are both seeing and hearing.
Matthew 24; 30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, all the tribes of the Land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man on the clouds of heaven with tremendous power and glory. 31 He will send out his angels with a great shofar; and they will gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other.
–A breath, and the entirety of the universe and our existence came into being. An exhalation and the waters of the mighty Red Sea fled and obeyed. The sheep know their pen, the birds the path of their migration…the mountains tremble and quake in His presence the waters submit to His command….and man, puny and powerless deigns to wander with obstinacy. Man, haughty beside a mighty God Who humbles Himself, donning flesh and taking on humiliation and nakedness, our punishment and the grave….man, remain stiff-necked no longer. However deep the mire, however torrential the spiraling chaotic waters of strife you may find yourself in…hear the sound of His voice. He has ascended, but He will return. He returns to claim you.
He returns to draw you from the deep darkness and take you, as a bride…He chooses you.
He will come for you, faithful, compassionate…conquering King!!
Blessed are You Lord my God King of the universe,
You have extended Your kind hand to us, inviting us to delight with You under your expanses….
in the cover and shade of Your tent we have reveled,
in Your shade and sukkah we have sought You.
In the sight of the stars You softly spoke of the intimacy You have pursued….
You poured it gently into my bosom as I gazed heavenward,
and I long for You.
You are my hearts desire,
I seek You.
Prepare a tiny place for me,
last and small…
but present for Your coronation and eternal reign.
Return for us as You have spoken,
soon in our days…
we await You.
most beautiful name…
Blessed is Your love,
thank You my King.
