Focus on Mark 13 and Matthew 23-24 in connection with the Fall Feasts of the Lord
–This is my shofar sounding. This is my voice from the watchtower.
The Fall Feasts approach and I know the Lord is drawing nearer.
Let the scripture, history, ancient languages and above all the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) ‘speak’ for themselves!
Yeshua warned us of everything that would happen. We know that all that has been will be once again.
Whatever has been is what will, be, and whatever has been done is what will be done. There is nothing new beneath the sun! Ecclesiastes 1;9
May you be blessed by this and may it be a gift which fosters even greater awe at our Messiah and the Total and Completeness of Our Maker and King!
May it illuminate for you how He has woven all things together and how important it is to arm ourselves now for the days ahead!
Lamentations 3;28 Let one sit in solitude and be submissive, for He had laid it upon him. 29 Let him put his mouth to the dust- there may yet be hope. 30 Let one offer his cheek to his smiter, let him be filled with disgrace; 31 for the Lord does not reject forever; 32 He first afflicts, then pities, according to His abundant kindness. 33 For He does not torment capriciously, not afflict man; 34 to crush under His feel all the prisoners of the earth; 35 to deny a man justice in the presence of the Most High; 36 to wrong a man in his conflict; the Lord does not approve. 37 Whose decree was ever fulfilled, if the Lord did not ordain it? 38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that evil and good emanate? 39 Of what shall a living man complain? A man for his sins!
I Temple- built by King Solomon (I Kings 6) destroyed 586 B.C.E. by Babylonians.
II Temple- built under Z’rubavel (Haggai 2;3) 516 B.C.E.;
Herod (John 2;20) renovated and expanded the Temple which took 46 years.
Herod’s Temple was destroyed by Romans in 70 C.E.
Today the Western Wall /”Wailing Wall”/ Kotel are the remaining stones of the Temple Court.
Mark 13;8 For peoples will fight each other, and nations will fight each other, there will be earthquakes in various places, there will be famines; this is but the beginning of the ‘birth pains’. [Matthew 24;8 ]
Isaiah 13;5 They come from a faraway land, from the end of the heavens- HASHEM and His weapons of anger, to devastate the entire land. 6 Wail, for the day of HASHEM is near; it will come like a sudden attack from the Almighty. 7 Therefore, all hands will grow weak and every human heart will melt. 8 They will be terrorized; aches and pains will seize them; they will be in travail like a woman in childbirth. Each man will be astonished at his friend; their faces are faces of flame. 9 Behold, the day of HASHEM is coming: [a day] of cruelty, rage and burning anger, to make the land desolate; and He will annihilate its sinners from it. 10 For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not radiate their light; the sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shine forth its light.

Joel 2;2 Blow the shofar in Zion and sound the trumpet on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of HASHEM has come; it is near-2 a day of darkness and thick darkness, a day of cloud and thick cloud, spreading over the mountains like the dawn- a numerous and mighty people; its like has not been from eternity, and after it there will never again be, until the years of generation after generation. 3 Before it a fire consumes and after it a flame scorches; before it the land was like the Garden of Eden, but after it a desolate desert; there is no remnant from it. [Daniel 12;1]
Eklektos (ek-lek-tos)- select; by implication favorite; chosen.
Eklegomai (ek-leg-om-ahee)- to select; make choice; choose (out); chosen.
Mark 13;19 For there will be worse trouble at that time than there has ever been from the very beginning, when God created the universe, until now; and there will be nothing like it again. 20 Indeed if God had not limited the trouble, no one would survive; but for the sake of the elect (eklektos), those whom he has chosen (eklegomai), he has limited it.

How to spot a false prophet; How to keep from being misled:
Deuteronomy 13;1 The entire word that I commanded you, that shall you observe to do; you shall not add to it and you shall not subtract from it. 2 If there should stand up in your midst a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, and he will produce you a sign or wonder, 3 and the sign of the wonder comes about, of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us follow the gods of others that you did not know and we shall worship them!”-4 do not hearken to the words of the prophet or to that dreamer of a dream, for HASHEM, your God, is testing you to know whether you love HASHEM, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul. 5 HASHEM, your God, shall you follow and Him shall you fear; His commandments shall you observe and to His voice shall you hearken; Him shall you serve and to Him shall you cleave.
Deuteronomy 18;18 I will establish a prophet for them from among their brethren, like you, and I will place My words in his mouth; He shall speak to them everything I will command him. 10 And it shall be that the man who will not hearken to My words that he shall speak in My Name, I will exact from him. 20 But the prophet who willfully shall speak a word in My Name, that which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of the gods of others- that prophet shall die. 21 When you say in your heart, “How can we know the word that HASHEM has not spoken?” 22 If the prophet will speak in the Name of HASHEM and that thing will not occur and not come about- that is the word that HASHEM has not spoken; with willfulness has the prophet spoken it , you should not fear him.
Mark 13;23 But you, watch out! I have told you everything in advance! 24 In those days, after that trouble,
the sun will grow dark, the moon will stop shining, 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in heaven will be shaken.
Ezekiel 32;7 With [the smoke of] your extinguishment I will cover the heavens and I will darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon will not radiate its light. 8 I will darken the bright lights of heaven because of you, and I will place darkness upon your land- the word of HASHEM/ELOHIM.
Amos 8;9 And it shall be on that day- the word of the Lord HASHEM/ELOHIM- that I will bring down the sun at midday and I will darken the land on a day of light. 10 I will turn your festivals into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring sackcloth upon all loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make [the land] as if as if in mourning for an only [son], and its end like a bitter day. 11 Behold, days are coming- the word of the Lord HASHEM/ELOHIM- when I will send hunger into the land; not a huger for bread nor for thirst for water, but to hear the words of HASHEM.
–Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified during the Feast of Pesach and unleavened bread, referred to in the Amos text. At the times of the daily Tamid (continual) offerings (9am, 12, and 3pm) he was nailed to the cross at 9, at noon the sun went black as if the Lord could no longer look upon the suffering of His Son, and at 3 our savior gave up his spirit. Every single day Jews all around the world pray at these set times and ask for the Lord to send Yeshua (which means Savior or Salvation)!
Mark 13;26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with tremendous power and glory. 27 He will send out his angels and gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
Daniel 7;13 I was watching in night visions and behold! with the clouds of heaven one like a man came; he came up to the One of Ancient Days, and they brought him before Him. 14 He was given dominion, honor and kingship, so that all peoples, nations and languages would serve him; his dominion would be an everlasting dominion that would never pass, and his kingship would never be destroyed.
Isaiah 34;4 All the host of heaven will dissolve and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll; all their host will shrivel as a leaf of a grapevine shrivels and like a shriveled leaf of a fig tree.
Mark 13; 28 Now let the fig tree teach you its lesson: when its branches begin to sprout and leaves appear, you know that summer is approaching. 29 In the same way when you see all these things happening, you are to know that the time is near, right at the door.
Nomos- Law; specifically of Moses also of the Gospel.

Matthew 5;17 “Don’t think I have come to abolish the Torah (Nomos) or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete (pleroo). 18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or stroke will pass from the Torah- not until everything that must happen has happened.
Mark 13;31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will certainly not pass away. 32 However, when that day will come, no one knows- not the angels in heaven, not the Son, just the Father. 33 Stay alert! Be on your guard! For you do not know when the time will come.
Matthew 23;37 “Yerushalayim! Yerushalayim! You kill the prophets! You stone those who are sent to you! How often I wanted to gather your children, just as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you refused! 38 Look! God is abandoning your house to you, leaving it desolate. 39 For I tell you, from now on, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of ADONAI.”
read from verse 1
Jeremiah 22;5 But if you do not heed these words, I swear by Myself- the word of HASHEM- that this palace will become a ruin.
8 Many nations will pass by this city, and each man will say to his fellow, ‘For what reason did HASHEM do this to this great city?’ 9 And they will reply, ‘It is because they forsook the covenant of HASHEM, their God and prostrated themselves to the gods of others and worshipped them.’
Psalm 118; 22 The stone the builders despised has become the cornerstone. 23 This emanated from HASHEM; it is wondrous in our eyes. 24 This is the day that HASHEM has made; let us rejoice and be glad on it. 25 Please, HASHEM, save now! Please, HASHEM, bring success now! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the Name of HASHEM; we will bless you from the House of HASHEM.
Anomia (an-om-ee-ah)- illegality; violation of law; wickedness; iniquity; unrighteousness.
Matthew 24;10 At that time many will be trapped into betraying each other and hating each other, 11 many false prophets will appear and fool many people; 12 any many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah (anomia). 13 But whoever holds out till the end will be delivered.
Asah (aw-saw)- to do; accomplish; bring forth; have the charge of; execute; furnish; maintain; observe; be occupied; perform; practice; fulfill.
II Kings 18;11 The king of Assyria exiled Israel to Assyria, placing them in Halah, in Habor, by the Gozan River, and the cities of Media. 12 [This was] because they transgressed His covenant- all that Moses, the servant of HASHEM, had commanded, they did not heed and they did not fulfill (asah).
Matthew 24; 19 What a terrible time it will be for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that it not have to escape in winter or on Shabbat.
Nehemiah 13;15 In those days I observed in Judah [people] treading on winepresses on the Sabbath and [people] bringing sheaves and loading them on the donkeys, as well as wine, grapes and figs and every burden, bringing them to Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. I warned them on the day they sold their provisions.
17 So I contended with the aristocrats of Judah, and I said to them, “What is this wicked thing that you are doing, desecrating the Sabbath day? 18 Did not our ancestors do this, and then our God brought all this evil upon us and upon this city? And now you bring additional wrath against Israel by desecrating the Sabbath?
19 It happened when the gates of Jerusalem cast shadows before the Sabbath, that I spoke [the order] not to open them until after the Sabbath. I stationed some of my servants at the gates, [so that] no burden could come in on the Sabbath….21…from that time onward they did not come on the Sabbath.
War of the Jews,
Book 4, Chapter 9, Section 1
And now the war having gone through all the mountainous country, and all the plain country also, those that were at Jerusalem were deprived of the liberty of going out of the city; for as to such as had a mind to desert, they were watched by the zealots; and as to such as were not yet on the side of the Romans, their army kept them in, by encompassing the city round about on all sides.
Book 5, Chapter 12, section…
2 When Titus had therefore encompassed the city with this wall, and put garrisons into proper places, he went round the wall, at the first watch of the night, and observed how the guard was kept; the second watch he allotted to Alexander; the commanders of legions took the third watch. They also cast lots among themselves who should be upon the watch in the night time, and who should go all night long round the spaces that were interposed between the garrisons.
3 So all hope of escaping was now cut off from the Jews, together with their liberty of going out of the city.
-At the beginning of the Common Era, a new group arose among the Jews: the Zealots (in Hebrew, Ka-na-im). These anti-Roman rebels were active for more than six decades, and later instigated the Great Revolt. Their most basic belief was that all means were justified to attain political and religious liberty.
-The Jews’ anti-Roman feelings were seriously exacerbated during the reign of the half-crazed emperor Caligula, who in the year 39 declared himself to be a deity and ordered his statue to be set up at every temple in the Roman Empire. The Jews, alone in the empire, refused the command; they would not defile God’s Temple with a statue of pagan Rome’s newest deity.
-Caligula threatened to destroy the Temple, so a delegation of Jews was sent to pacify him. To no avail. Caligula raged at them, “So you are the enemies of the gods, the only people who refuse to recognize my divinity.” Only the emperor’s sudden, violent death saved the Jews from wholesale massacre.
-Caligula’s action radicalized even the more moderate Jews. What assurance did they have, after all, that another Roman ruler would not arise and try to defile the Temple or destroy Judaism altogether? In addition, Caligula’s sudden demise might also have been interpreted as confirming the Zealots’ belief that God would fight alongside the Jews if only they would have the courage to confront Rome.
Matthew 24;15 “So when you see the abomination that causes desolation spoken about through the prophet Daniel standing in the Holy Place”….
16 “that will be the time for those in Y’hudah to escape to the hills.”
The Wars of The Jews by Flavius Josephus Written in 75 AD
Book IV, Chapter VI, Section 3
And indeed many there were of the Jews that deserted every day, and fled away from the zealots, although their flight was very difficult, since they had guarded every passage out of the city, and slew every one that was caught at them, as taking it for granted they were going over to the Romans; yet did he who gave them money get clear off, while he only that gave them none was voted a traitor. So the upshot was this, that the rich purchased their flight by money, while none but the poor were slain. Along all the roads also vast numbers of dead bodies lay in heaps, and even many of those that were so zealous in deserting at length chose rather to perish within the city; for the hopes of burial made death in their own city appear of the two less terrible to them. But these zealots came at last to that degree of barbarity, as not to bestow a burial either on those slain in the city, or on those that lay along the roads; but as if they had made an agreement to cancel both the laws of their country and the laws of nature, and, at the same time that they defiled men with their wicked actions, they would pollute the Divinity itself also, they left the dead bodies to putrefy under the sun; and the same punishment was allotted to such as buried any as to those that deserted, which was no other than death; while he that granted the favor of a grave to another would presently stand in need of a grave himself.
Matthey 24;28 Wherever there’s a dead body, that’s where you find the vultures.
To say all in a word, no other gentle passion was so entirely lost among them as mercy; for what were the greatest objects of pity did most of all irritate these wretches, and they transferred their rage from the living to those that had been slain, and from the dead to the living. Nay, the terror was so very great, that he who survived called them that were first dead happy, as being at rest already; as did those that were under torture in the prisons, declare, that, upon this comparison, those that lay unburied were the happiest. These men, therefore, trampled upon all the laws of men, and laughed at the laws of God; and for the oracles of the prophets, they ridiculed them as the tricks of jugglers; yet did these prophets foretell many things concerning [the rewards of] virtue, and [punishments of] vice, which when these zealots violated, they occasioned the fulfilling of those very prophecies belonging to their own country; for there was a certain ancient oracle of those men, that the city should then be taken and the sanctuary burnt, by right of war, when a sedition should invade the Jews, and their own hand should pollute the temple of God. Now while these zealots did not [quite] disbelieve these predictions, they made themselves the instruments of their accomplishment.
Semeion (say-mi-on)- an indication, especially ceremonially or supernaturally.
Matthew 24; 30 “Then the sign (semeion) of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, all the tribes of the Land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with tremendous power and glory.
Zechariah 12; 10 I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitant of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplications. They will look toward Me because of those whom they have stabbed; they will mourn over him as one mourns over an only [child], and be embittered over him like the embitterment over a [deceased] firstborn.
Romans 11;15 For if their casting Yeshua aside means reconciliation for the world, what will their accepting mean? It will be life from the dead!
Matthew 24; 31 He will send out his angels with a great Shofar; and they will gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other.
On the Feast of Trumpets the Shofar is blown 100 times .There are three sounds made with the shofar:
Tekiah – One long straight blast.
Shevarim – Three shorter blasts.
Teruah – 9 quick blasts in short succession
This series is blown 11 times for a total of 99 blasts and the final blast is known as
“The Last Trump” !
I Corinthians 15;51 Look,, I will tell you a secret- not all of us will die! But we will be changed! 52 It will take but a moment, the blink of an eye, at the final shofar (The Last Trump). For the shofar will sound, and the dead will be raised to live forever, and we too will be changed.
Matthew 24;36 “But when that day or the hour will come, no one knows- not the angels in heaven, not the Son, only the Father. ”
Rosh haShanah is called “The Day That No-One Knows” because it is the only Hebrew Feast / Festival day that falls on the first day of a month (Rosh Chodesh). This year The Feast of Trumpets begins on Rosh Chodesh Tishrei, September 4th Sundown. Since the first day of any Hebrew month depends on the sighting of the first tiny sliver of the next waxing moon following a new moon, no-one knows exactly when Rosh haShanah will begin until the next waxing moon is sighted and the 7th Hebrew month (Tishri) is officially declared to have begun.
(Remember those verses about the darkness, this is the darkest night of the month.)
Daniel warns what the Liar will do, he will strip you of the Torah which speaks of all the Feasts which arm us and warn us about the times ahead (all dress rehearsals for the second coming of our Savior Yeshua), and to remove from you an understanding of the Appointed times- Moadim- Prophetic Feasts of the Lord.
Daniel 7;25 He will speak words against the Supreme One, and he will exhaust the holy supreme ones, and he will plan to alter the seasons and the law….
Leviticus 23;1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: The Lord’s appointed festivals that you are to designate as holy convocations- these are My appointed festivals.
–May we all call out in repentance and for the mercy of our coming Savior! May you all find strength in these verses and ask Him with all your hearts to make a space for each of us in His secret, hidden, refuge for the times of trouble ahead!
Cathar (saw-thar)- to hide (by covering), literally or figuratively. to be absent; to keep close; conceal; hide (self); (keep) secret.
Zephaniah 2;1 Improve yourselves and improve each other, O nation without desire: 2 before the decree is born, the day you will become like chaff; before HASHEM’s burning wrath comes upon you; before the day of HASHEM’s anger comes upon you. 3 Seek HASHEM, all you humble of the land who have fulfilled His law; seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be concealed (cathar) on the day of HASHEM’s anger.
Psalm 27; 5 Indeed, He will hide (cathar) me in His Shelter on the day of evil; He will conceal me in the concealment of His Tent; He will lift me upon a rock. 6 Now my head is raised above my enemies around me, and I will slaughter offerings in His Tent accompanied by joyous song; I will chant a song of praise to HASHEM. 7 HASHEM will hear my voice when I call, be gracious toward me and answer me.
Psalm 31; 20 How abundant is Your goodness that You have stored away for those who fear You, that You have performed for those who seek refuge in You in the presence of men. 21 Shelter them in the cover of Your countenance from the haughtiness of man; protect them un a shelter (cathar) from the strife of tongues. 22 Blessed is HASHEM, for He has been wondrously kind to me in the besieged city. 23 I had said in my panic, “I am cut off from before your eyes!” But in truth, You heard the sound of my supplications when I cried to You. 24 Love HASHEM, all His devout ones! HASHEM safeguards the faithful, but he repays for his haughtiness one who acts with arrogance. 25 Be strong, and let your hearts take courage, all who wait longingly for HASHEM.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, Creator and King of the universe, You have blessed us with Your Torah of Truth, You have blessed us with the entire counsel of Your Living Word!
Blessed are You, in Yeshua’s Name! Amein!
